A few weeks ago, we had the wonderful privilege of shooting two happy faces for The Children’s Hospital at Saint Peters University Hospital.
Photographing kids can be a great deal of fun, however there are a few tricks to getting the shots you want.
1. Make them feel comfortable from the very beginning. Children sometimes need a few minutes to warm up, and on a shoot where time is of the essence, it is best not to push them and their emotions. The more relaxed, the better.
2. Be flexible! Not everything will go according to plan – The morning of the shoot happened to be a bit colder than anticipated but by running around the park to keep warm and positive energy, we had a successful shoot in no time.
3. Don’t forget to have fun! We had a great team of “big kids” on set who seemed to be having more fun on the seesaw than our little ones. By laughing and doing funny things, we were able to capture some great (and natural!) shots.
